After turning it off let the oil settle for 10-15 minutes then pull the stick wipe it, replace it and pull it again checking the level. Some additive packages/brands make it easier, others are almost clear. If you have holes in the dipstick, the oil will remain in the hole, giving you a clue where the level actually is.
