WebApr 3, 2015 · The ZMC-2 airship was the olnly successfully operated metalclad airship ever built. It was constructed at Naval Air Station Station Grosse. The airship was operated at Lake Hurst New Jersey by the Navy from 1929-1941. While at Lake Hurst it accomplished 752 flights. Thanks for looking at my project, please diamond and subscribe. Weband the design staff at Airship Industries before the de-merger in 1982. Both hull designs were similar in concept to the successful US Navy metal-clad ZMC-2 airship built in 1929. Design work on the R.30 metal-clad, rigid airship was initiated at Wren Skyships in 1982 in response to a US Coastguard requirement for a patrol airship.
